Antibacterial Soaps
Antibacterial soaps are causing concern among doctors and researchers. The chemicals triclosan and triclocarban, which are found in about 25 percent of bar soap and 75 percent of liquid soap, are serious environmental and health concerns. These chemicals make their way into lakes and rivers where they have been found to affect thyroid function and development in frogs. People are not exempt either. Up to 75 percent of the people tested in the U.S. showed traces of triclosan in urine. There is concern that it may affect sex hormones and the nervous system in humans. It is recommended that we use hand soap that does not contain these chemicals. It can be just as effective, against H1M1 or other flus, providing we wash thoroughly for about 20 seconds. The same is true for antibacterial wipes. Alcohol wipes are just as effective and do not contain the dangerous chemicals.Pure organic soaps can be bought at
Green Organic.
