Eco Pets

There are a number of environmental issues relating to eco pets. For many households they are a very important part of the family. Some aspects of our love and care can in fact harm them. Probably the greatest example of this is when we purchase treatments to get rid of fleas and ticks. See Fleas and Ticks These toxic products can affect them as well as family members and ultimately the environment. Another item of concern is the quality of many of the pet foods. Although a product may be a recognized brand, they may not be very nutritious; as with prepared human food, there are often many additives and preservatives. See Pet Food Unfortunately, there is very little government regulation regarding animal pest control or food ingredients.

The best things we can do as pet owners are to avoid toxic pest controls, and look at ingredients on the packaging to find the best choices for our animals. Another environment friendly practice is to use biodegradable bags when picking up after our dogs.
