It is virtually a certainty that energy costs are going to continue to increase over the years to come. The rate of increase is not predictable. When they burn out it is important to take them to a designated depot for safe disposal. Still another problem with these bulbs is they produce EMF. Some people are very sensitive to EMF (Electro Magnetic Fields) to the point where they can become quite ill. Absolutely the best development in illumination to date is the replacement led light bulbs. They are expensive to purchase but the benefits outweigh all other alternatives. They last between 40 and 50 thousand hours (longer by far than any other bulb) and use a tenth the energy to operate compared to the incandescent bulb. They have no negative environmental impact. They give off no EMF or Ultra-violet rays. They provide a more natural full spectrum light. Over the long term they are the most cost effective bulb. Although the LED bulb is more expensive to buy, in the long run it can save you a significant amount of money. They are by far the longest lasting bulb, they are by far the cheapest bulb to opporate. Many electricity providers are switching to Smart Metering to determine the cost of the energy we use. This generally means that the cost of electricity is highest when we need electric lighting. The increasing cost of electricity makes it important to switch to the energy efficient LED bulbs now.
